it's not running the spells that let you storm off and dig/draw cards by sac a big creature. I mean, all it takes is a cursory look at the decklist they post, and it's overwhelmingly clear what sort of deck the DJ person built.Īnd so the point about shitty 2 drop 5 power creatures is valid.maybe dreadnought at 1 for a twelve mana ritual is a mistake, but it's not really where this deck wants to be. makes it case, it fairly clearly explains what it's talking about, why it's talking about certain cards in certain context. these cards are bad, and ran to reddit to shit post, when the video. When they go specifically into the sorta cards people are harping about it they codify it by mentioning it doesn't work for the strategy they're doing.īecause people just heard. It's playing utility 3 drops at 5 power, synergistic creatures that build to a functional beater deck. Watching the video right now, and right out of the gate it's overwhelmingly obvious they're building a selvala deck that isn't building to combo. Feel free to disagree with that evaluation, but don't dismiss a position and go around insulting people for any reason because you disagree without considering their stance (to be fair, they also could have done a better job of explaining why they thought it was a trap). ![]() They seem to think that the floor outweighs the ceiling. The CZ seem to think its not in the meta's that they play in. Add some double land tapping features and infinite equipment to grow your hydras as big and strong as you could possibly imagine. Selvala Brostorm is a fast, all-in competitive combo deck in which you create infinite mana and either destroy the whole board but your own, or create infinitely large creatures and swing in. Her ability grows exponentially with every Hydra/Eldrazi you cast. And in a more casual meta where games go longer and tutors are less used the chances of seeing this card when its bad start to approach or overtake the chances of seeing it when its good.ĭoes the upside outweigh the downside of having a dead-card at other points of the game? Maybe. Selvala, Heart of the Wilds has more Ramp than Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary or Azusa, Lost but Seeking. Its a card that is extremely strong when in the development stages of the game, but may do little to nothing while behind, and will do nothing when ahead. If the correct requirements aren't met (Selvala is in play, LP is your biggest creature on board, LP is the biggest creature on the entire board), it quickly starts to lose value. ![]() The floor on Lupine Prototype is doing nothing. I think its fair for the CZ to be concerned about Lupine Prototype, especially in less optimized decks, because of how low the floor is. I'm going to ignore your 'custom card' because its so different/stronger from Lupine Prototype it isn't really comparable.
